About Nínitakk
Nínitakk began as a personal journey, rooted in the everyday shopping habits of my family. As the de facto "supplier" of lifestyle choices for my home and loved ones, I’ve always taken pride in curating items that bring both joy and comfort to our lives.
Having grown up in China, I’m accustomed to an abundance of choices—whether it's the affordable pair of quality socks, a soft baby cashmere sweater, or beautifully crafted Japanese ceramics. Even after living in Iceland for a decade, I still find myself regularly turning back to China, a global hub for all things, to find items that are not only great value for money but also quality, fun, and unique.
China often carries a reputation for mass production and cheap goods. But beyond this stereotype lies decades of experience and expertise, where top-notch factories and studios have perfected their craft and production. This rich heritage has paved the way for a new generation of designers who are redefining Chinese creativity. These young talents embrace the Western ideology of celebrating individuality while reconnecting with the beauty of their centuries-old traditions. The result is a vibrant and innovative design landscape that brings fresh and unique creations to the world.
Over the years, my family and friends in Iceland have been more than appreciative of my selections. Whether it’s socks that keep everyone cozy, small fun gifts that bring a smile, or exquisite home décor pieces, they’ve encouraged me to share these treasures more widely. That’s how Nínitakk was born—out of a simple thought: "Why not offer these special finds to others?"
At Nínitakk, I’m not just bringing products that are "cheaper" or what "I" think is better. I’ve always believed that the modern world is about celebrating diversity and we are simply offering more options that reflect our individual tastes. By introducing designs from Asia, Nínitakk aims to offer something fresh to Iceland and resonate with those who appreciate quality, uniqueness, and a touch of the unexpected.
Looking to the future, Nínitakk aspires to introduce more oriental designs to Iceland, Scandinavia, and beyond, including historic artisan brands and emerging contemporary talents from China, Japan, and other parts of Asia that I hold dear.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I hope Nínitakk brings a little bit of joy and a touch of the extraordinary into your life.
